Starting about 10 minutes ago, we began experiencing a very high rate of errors and we are working on the underlying problem. Update (3:40): We’ve corrected the problem and the site is returning to normal.

We are experiencing an outage due to an extremely high number of whales. Our on-call team is working on a fix. Update (5:18a): We are recovering from this incident. A sudden failure coupled with problems in switching to a backup system produced a high number of errors for around 90 minutes. This made the site largely inaccessible. No data was lost...

For the past 30 minutes, we’ve been seeing a slightly higher rate of errors than normal. We are working to identify and fix the underlying issue. Update (2:31p): This has now been resolved.

Starting a couple minutes ago twitter.com started returning a high number of errors. We are actively working on this problem. Update (2:52p): We have greatly reduced the number of errors and are continuing to investigate the source of this afternoon’s event.

We’re investigating a high error rate and intermittent page loading issues that began at 02:58 UTC (7:58pm PDT) Update 04:02 UTC (9:02pm PDT) We’ve routed around a troublesome cluster and the error rate has dropped.
