Although it made us remember the decades long legal dispute between Apple Inc. and Apple Corps, settled in February 2007., this apple doesn’t have anything to do with Apple, the computer company (although we reckon that Apple Inc. won’t be particularly fond of this release). We’re talking about a limited edition USB containing remastered Beatles songs and other goodies, shaped like an apple. There will only be 30,000 of these, so if you want one, line up for the release date on December 7 (December 8 in North America). The Beatles Top 50: #8 Abbey Road M..."Golden Slumbers" is based on the poem "Cradle Song", a lullaby by the dramatist Thomas Dekker. The poem appears in Dekker's 1603 comedy Patient Grissel. McCartney saw sheet music for Dekker's lullaby at his father's home in Liverpool, left on a piano by his stepsister Ruth McCartney. Unable to read music at the time, he created his own melody and arrangement / "Carry That Weight" is a song by The Beatles. Released on Abbey Road and part of the long, climactic medley that closes the album, it features vocals from all four of the Beatles (a rarity in their songs). It is preceded by "Golden Slumbers", and segues into "The End". The middle bridge, featuring brass instruments, electric guitar and vocals, reprises the beginning of "You Never Give Me Your Money", but with different lyrics.
