Halloween 2009: Google Doodle Goes Click or Treat [PICS]

October 31st, 2009 admin

If you’ve hopped over to Google.com this Halloween, you might have spotted the world’s favorite search engine has a special Halloween logo. Actually, it’s not just one logo: clicking on the Google image delivers a series of images related to Halloween candy. Another thing to notice from these shots: Google is trying a new layout with a subset of users that removes the “Search” button entirely, reminding visitors they can just hit Enter to search for something. That’s spookily simple, we think. Reviews: Google

Happy Halloween: Flickr’s 10 Best Halloween Houses [PICS]
As a young child one of my favorite, and yet most feared things, about Halloween trick-or-treating was the house down the street. The family always struck me as other-worldly and every year, without fail, they would decorate their home with spooky decor, flickering lights, realistic cobwebs, and even a few eerie characters hiding out waiting to...

Pi Day: Google Doodle Celebrates Math Nerds Everywhere
For most of the world, today is March 14th, or 3/14. To most, that date doesn’t have any special meaning. But to us math nerds, it means only one thing: today is Pi Day! Thankfully, it looks like Google has no shortage of number nerds, because the search giant is marking the occasion with a spiffy new logo filled with some of choice geometry...
Wow, Google Really Likes Muppets!
Wow, Google Really Likes Muppets!
We’ve seen Google change their logo hundreds of times to celebrate some event during the company’s history, but lately they’ve really upped the ante, changing it nearly every day; I’ve almost forgotten what the real Google logo looks like. A couple of days ago we wrote about a Google doodle that celebrates 40 years of the...

Google’s been on a homepage logo changing spree: they’ve celebrated H.G. Wells , the bar code , Confucious , Gandhi , and Sesame Street over the last few months alone. Hans Christian Andersen: Google Doodle Celebrates the Legendary Children’s Author
What do The Little Mermaid , Thumbelina , The Emperor’s New Cloth and The Ugly Duckling all have in common? They are all the work of Hans Christian Andersen, one of literature’s most famous children’s authors. Today, on what would have been his 205th birthday, Google is celebrating his life’s accomplishments with not one,...

Google Celebrates Cousteau’s Birthday in the U.S., World Cup Everywhere Else
They say that soccer/football is gaining popularity in the U.S., but Google seems to think otherwise. In most countries, Google’s logo today is an image related to the World Cup, which starts today; in the U.S., however, it’s an image of a diver, celebrating the birthday of the great Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Combined with the recent...

In three days, soccer (or football, depending on where you live) World Cup starts, and fans all over the world get into a collective craze that’s hard to compare to any other sporting event. Google Logo on 09/09/09 09:09:09
If you’re the type that knows which date and time it is (I’m not, so I haven’t), you might have noticed that yesterday’s date was somewhat interesting: September 9th, 2009, or 09/09/09. Furthermore, if you’d looked at Google’s homepage at exactly 09:09:09, you’d notice another new Google logo , which appeared...

Unexplained Phenomenon Google Logo: Can You Explain It?
Google traditionally remixes its logo to celebrate notable birthdays, scientific achievements, world events and other key dates. But why is Google ’s logo today a UFO beaming up the second “o” and linking the search phrase “Unexplained Phenomenon”? Even more cryptic: a TwitPic posted to Google’s Twitter account...
